Belmopan Queens – Then & Now

Belmopan Queens – THEN

A total of 73 young women have been crowned “Queen of The Bay” in Belize. The first competition was held in 1946 and the first Queen was Miss Rita Lewis. Back in those days, the pageant was limited to Belize City but today 1 young lady from each of the 6 Districts vies for the crown. Interestingly, our Director’s mom, Miss Desiree Smith, was a past Queen and won the title of Queen of the Bay Belmopan in 1987.

The Guy family is such an inspiration and blessing to many in Belize, especially the youth of our community. Anna and Eckert guy have given up much of their free time for all things youth in Belize. They are the founders of the Belmopan Active Youths (BAY) which has brought such life to the Belmopan community. We admire this family and hope we can do half as much as them one day.

The Chiquibul Challenge in Belize – A Race for Conservation

Nothing But Footprints: Chiquibul is one of the most beautiful places in Belize. Most noteworthy, is it’s 400,000 acres of rich wildlife and biodiversity. Friends for Conservation & Development (FCD) have worked for years in the area to fight against the many threats in the Chiquibul Forest. This year, FCD was blessed with great exposure thanks to their friends at the Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic (BWRC).
