ID SEVEN Apparel’s DIY No Sew T-Shirt Mask
“Only two types of people should wear masks: those who are sick and show symptoms, and those who are caring for people who are suspected to have the coronavirus.” – BBC News
“Simple DIY masks could help flatten the curve. We should all wear them in public.” – The Washington Post
While everyone is still debating on if wearing masks helps or not, it is up to you to make a decision that brings you peace in these confusing times. Our thinking, if a mask can help keep the virus in for those who are sick, shouldn’t it also help keep it out? We believe this recommendation is so healthcare professionals can access them, which is completely understandable. However, if we make our own, we are not taking away from them.
Stay Home
While many professionals encourage staying home if you don’t need to be out, we understand that some people simply cannot afford to do that. For whatever reason, wether it be groceries, work or medical trips, we hope this mask will come in handy should you need it. Our ID SEVEN store remains closed but we are still taking online orders and offering delivery services.
ID SEVEN Apparel’s DIY No Sew T-Shirt Mask Tutorial
We created this short and easy tutorial so you can make your own mask right at home. Plus, you do not need any sewing skills. We know many businesses have spiked their prices for masks and other things like handsanitizers but there’s no need to spend that money.
Below are 5 easy steps to make your mask or watch our short video on Instagram. You will need a cotton t-shirt, scissors, and rubber bands (optional). We recommend washing your t-shirt well before use.
- Cut your t-shirt below the sleeves to form a rectangle.
- Cut along the sides of the t-shirt to create two rectangles.
- Fold your rectangle in half, then fold again.
- Flip over and add rubber bands.
- Fold left and right sides in to create 3 layers.
- Tuck one layer inside the other.
- That’s it! You’ve successfully made your t-shirt mask.
Other Option – No Rubber Bands Needed
If you don’t have rubber bands or find that they are too tight, you can make your own straps as well. Use excess t-shirt pieces to create a band you can hook around your ears or tie around your head instead. Just cut 4 holes insert straps.
