“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24

“This is how I started my career. My first real job. Young and idle. Going to school and working and always ending up as the designated PR for work. Kinda crazy how life works sometimes. Whoever is seeing this. Trust every season of your life. Seasons change and you’ll end up where you’re destined to be. One foot in front of the other, always. Just start somewhere. It’s not about how you start.”

One of our past campers and now friend, Jaleeza, posted the text and photo above on her Facebook this week. We thought it could encourage some of our young followers and asked her permission to share.

For most of you, you will not start with the “dream job” you imagined. You may not even start off with a nice job. You know, the kind that you are excited to tell everyone about. But we want to encourage you that however you start and wherever you start, do it well. You never know what God is teaching you during each season and where He plans to take you next. This might just be your prep station. The season of all the flavors coming together nicely is next; but the washing and chopping comes first.

A while back, Jaleeza worked for Builders Hardware, which by the look of things, is a great place to work. But though a respectable job, it was not the job she had in mind. Yet she remained her joyous self and took advantage of opportunities. She used them to learn life and career lessons. While not hired for public relations, she was somehow always selected to represent the business in that way. Today, she works at Channel 7 News Belize, which is more in the direction towards her dream career.

Jaleeza has had many tough seasons to walk through, many learning experiences. While texting, she shared how we never realize it in real time what God was working behind the success. If only, right?

We share this blog to encourage you to start, wherever that may be and however that may be. WHEN you do start, start well and never get tired of doing your best. The journey may be long, but take advantage of AND ENJOY EVERY MOMENT!
