Garing has performed at a past Gospel Expo and at several other events in Belize, including the Festival of Hope held last year in Belize City. At the festival, Garing shared the stage with famous artists Christafari and Evan Craft. He also had the honor to share the same stage as Papa San, a Belizean long time favorite and the artist who is Garing’s biggest inspiration.

We first saw Garing perform at an event in Belize City in 2015; and from that moment, loved his music. The song that got us was his hit “Blessing Coming Down!” Garing is a musician worth supporting. He is truly gifted and has a heart to draw people to God. Plus, he is Straight Outta Belize and is a supporter of our ID SEVEN brand. You can see him rockin’ our Fi Wi Kontry Tee in this video.

INTERVIEW WITH GARING

What age did you start singing and how did you get into it?

I started singing at the age of 11. It was at church for a special item. Me and my big sister Ernestine did our rendition of “Touch From You,” by Papa San and Chevelle Franklin. I was really nervous but God brought me through.

What is your favorite genre of music?

My favorite genre of music as surprising as it may seem are Hip-Hop and R&B followed by Dancehall, Reggae and Soca.

Where did the song “Blessing Coming Down” come from?

The song Blessing Coming Down came one day when I was in my kitchen washing some dishes… I know right. When I’m doing chores around the house I normally listen to a lot of music. At the time I was listening so some gospel instrumental I had just received from a friend. In the spur of the moment I decided to freestyle to the instrumental and the words just started flowing. I was washing a pot at the same time so the line in the verse which speaks of pot was a result of that incident.

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not singing or performing?

My favorite thing to do is spending time with my family and collecting gospel music.

Which artist is your biggest inspiration? Why does he/she inspire you?

I can definitely say Papa San mainly because he was the first gospel artist I was introduced to when I first got saved in 2001.

What is your biggest motivation to continue singing?

My biggest motivation for singing is definitely not to be in the spotlight as my song “Shine” indicates. But like the song, I just want to shine my light in this dark world. I want to be a vessel ready and available to be completely used by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I can remember when I first got saved. My prayer was for God to use all my gifts and talents for His Glory. At the time, I was dancing in the secular arena and God made a way for me to join a Christian dance group. Now that I’m singing, that prayer still stands.

What is your favorite Belizean meal?

My favorite Belizean meal is Coconut Milk Rice and Beans, Stew Chicken in Coconut Oil, Coleslaw and Fried Ripe Plantain.

What can Belizeans expect from you this year?

Belizeans can expect my EP to drop this year. It’s been in the making for some time now because I don’t want it to be just another local album. I want it to be played in places like Trinidad and have the same quality level as other popular artists. I must say that God has already made provision for that to happen so I’m definitely grateful.

We were grateful for this interview with Garing. Head out to see him perform at the Belize Gospel Expo on March 17 and 18 at the National Agriculture & Trade Show Grounds in Belmopan.
